A PRIORI, 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

From June 21 to July 28 2019, the C\u0113sis Exhibition House hosted the first Latvian Jewellery Art Association<\/span>\u2019<\/span>s exhibition <\/span>\u00ab<\/span>A priori<\/span>\u00bb<\/span>. <\/span>The concepts <\/span>\u00ab<\/span>a priori\u00bb <\/span>and <\/span>\u00ab<\/span>a posteriori\u00bb <\/span>are terms used in philosophy to distinguish two types of knowledge. The <\/span>\u00ab<\/span>a priori\u00bb <\/span>knowledge is independent of experience. This was also the starting point for the first <\/span>Latvian Jewellery Art Association\u2019<\/span>s<\/a><\/span><\/span> exhibition \u2014 the participants gathered, regardless of previous experience. Both recognized and well\u2013known Latvian jewellery artists, as well as recent graduates, have joined together to show new works, designed especially for the exhibition <\/span>\u00ab<\/span>A priori<\/span>\u00bb <\/span>in C\u0113<\/span>sis.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Latvian Jewellery Art Association was founded at <\/span>the beginning of 2018 to unite artists and designers working with jewellery and to implement ideas important for themselves and society. The Association aims to promote the exchange of information and experience in the industry, to organise events on the jewellery art and popularise the field both on the local and international level. They also wish to gather and preserve information, collaborate with educational institutions, students and teachers, attract financial support for projects in the jewellery field and cooperate with similar organisations.\u00a0<\/span>The participants of the <\/span>\u00ab<\/span>A priori<\/span>\u00bb <\/span>exhibition are <\/span>M\u0101ris Aunin<\/span>\u0327\u0161<\/a><\/span>, <\/span>J\u0101nis Brants<\/span><\/a><\/span>, <\/span>Valdis Bro\u017ee<\/a><\/span>, <\/span>Vladislavs \u010cistjakovs<\/a><\/span>, <\/span>Anna Fanigina<\/span><\/a><\/span>, <\/span>Ginta Gru<\/span>\u0304be<\/a><\/span>, <\/span>Andris Lauders<\/span><\/a><\/span>, <\/span>Guntis Lauders<\/span><\/a><\/span>, <\/span>Una Mikuda<\/a><\/span>, <\/span>Rasma Pu<\/span>\u0161pure<\/span><\/a><\/span>, <\/span>P\u0113teris Ripa<\/a><\/span>, <\/span>Anita Savicka<\/a><\/span>, <\/span>Laura Selecka<\/a><\/span>, <\/span>Darja Semjonova<\/a><\/span>, <\/span>Jelizaveta Suska<\/a><\/span>, <\/span>M\u0101ris \u0160usti\u0146\u0161<\/a><\/span>, <\/span>Paula Treimane<\/span><\/a><\/span>, <\/span>Zane Vilka<\/span><\/a><\/span>, <\/span>J\u0101nis Vilks<\/span><\/a><\/span> and <\/span>Maija V\u012btola<\/span>\u2013Zitmane<\/span><\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The exhibition is organised by the Latvian Jewellery Art Association, curated by art historian Iliana Veinberga who is also the collection keeper at the Riga Porcelain Museum.<\/p>\n
