SPECTRUM: ARTIST’S SIGNATURE / ROK-RAKSTS, BEAUTIFUL NATURE 2026
The Jewelry Art Association, in collaboration with the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design (Skārņu 10, Riga), is launching a new series of pop-up exhibitions titled “Spektrs,” which will reflect current trends in Latvian jewelry art. Visitors will be able to view the first exhibition, “Artist’s Signature” (Rok-raksts), from March 25 to May 31, 2026.
The first exhibition in the series is conceived as a collective submission to the program. Bringing together all the artists involved in the project, it will offer a glimpse into the work of Māris Auniņš, Ildze Bogana, Jānis Brants, Valdis Brože, Vladislavs Čistjakovs, Anna Fanigina, Ginta Grūbe, Aleksandra Federika Krastiņa, Andris Lauders, Guntis Lauders, Una Mikuda, Rasma Pušpure, Mārīte Rudzāte, Anita Savicka, Laura Selecka, Gints Strēlis, Jelizaveta Suska, Daria Svirel, Māris Šustiņš, Paula Treimane, Jānis Vilks, Zane Vilka, and Maija Vītola-Zitmane, highlighting each artist’s individual style and creative approach to jewelry making through the use of various materials and original techniques.
“Beautiful Nature” (10 June – 13 September 2026) the second exhibition in the Spectrum pop-up exhibition series turns to nature as a source of inspiration, material, memory, and process. It reflects one of the most significant directions in contemporary jewelry art – the ability to address global and pressing issues through objects of intimate scale.
At the exhibition, Anna Fanigina presents AUGURII, a series of rings featuring foliage and bird motifs inspired by Ancient Roman frescoes. The title refers to the augurs, interpreters of omens who foretold the future by observing the flight of birds and, at times, the rustling of leaves. The word’s etymology is linked either to the Latin avis (“bird”) or to augere (“to grow,” “to rise”), the root of which also survives in the Latvian word augt (“to grow”). In Italian, auguri means good wishes and the hope for favorable signs. Presented at the beginning of summer, the collection brings together symbols of nature, growth, and renewal, serving both as a celebration of the season’s arrival and as a wish for positive transformation.
